The History:
Silvercup Studios is one of the largest film and television production facilities in New York City. Originally a bakery for Silvercup Bread, it was converted into a studio in 1983. It is most famous for its massive red “SILVERCUP” sign, which can be seen from the Queensboro Bridge and the FDR Drive.
Famous Productions Filmed Here:
The Sopranos: The interiors of Tony Soprano’s house and Dr. Melfi’s office were filmed on these soundstages.
Sex and the City: This served as the primary production home for the series.
30 Rock: Much of the show’s “studio” footage was filmed here.
Gossip Girl: The dramatic lives of the Upper East Siders were often brought to life in this Queens facility.
Highlander (1986): The film’s final legendary battle took place right on the rooftop near the Silvercup sign.
Succession: Parts of the high-stakes corporate drama were filmed here.
The Devil Wears Prada: Scenes for the fashion-world classic were shot on its stages.
The Hunt Clue:
“Cross the bridge to the land of Queens and look for the sign that once smelled of bread but now tastes of fame. Look for the red letters that tower over the bridge—where the Sopranos sat for therapy and the immortals had their final fight!”
